"Howell V-Four" Engine Water Passages


Boring the cylinder water jacket space in the lathe. Barring an 11" or larger lathe,
this can be done on the mill using a boring head.


Also in same setup, machine the cylinder bottom "O" ring grooves.

The block is ready for inlet and outlet water passages.


The milled cylinder water slots and the block water outlet pocket.


Inside the crankcase, you can see how the slot breaks out into the
water space. Notice the bottom "O" ring groove.


Plugs in the cylinder water slots. The drilled holes in the top of the
clyinder banks have not yet been plugged.


After the all the plugs have been milled flush with the block.


After the water inlet cavity and slots are milled, holes to the
cylinder water spaces are drilled.
