The "Exciter" coil pictured at left, is small in size (1.76" long by 1.4" diameter), weighs 4 ounces (113 grams) including the four 8" long leads and operates on 3.6 to 6 volts. The primary winding resistance is 1 ohm. In addition to single cylinder engines, or multi cylinder engines with distributors, the coil can be used to fire both plugs at the same time on twin cylinder engines because the high voltage secondary winding is isolated and double ended. The coils are totally enclosed in a plastic cylinder and potted with epoxy. This makes them very rugged and oil/fuel proof. These coils can be used on any model (or other) spark plug type engine with either the TIM-6 transistor ignition module, or on engines with old style conventional contact points and condenser (capacitor). |
